NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. In this article, we will see how the breakdown of NLP goes and how each word encapsulates the true and core meaning and what it really stands for. But before we get into that, kindly note that NLP stands for helping individuals to achieve their maximum potentials by way of training their mind and pattern of thoughts.
Neuro
“N” stands for Neuro. A world famous quote by Emerson Pugh states that “If the human brain were so simple that we could understand it, We would be so simple that we couldn’t”. Neurology is the science that deals intricately with the human brain and how it really works. This is one of the main components of NLP because it makes use of the mental, physical, and emotional components of human neurology in order to define how effective the cells of the brain( neurons) are in contributing to the human nature in terms of thinking and behavior.
Linguistics
“L” stands for Linguistic or Language. One way in which human beings distinguish themselves from other animals is by the creation and use of language. The very term linguistic has to do with language. How well you communicate with yourself? and, how well you communicate with others?, or what is the type of language you use?, and the type of language you understand? All of this comes under linguistic and these have been evolved from one’s personal life experiences so far. These play a very important role in setting the mind patterns in the life of an individual. Since we all use language as a representational system, our linguistic representations are subject to the three universals of human modelling : Generalization, Distortion and Deletion. How you think about yourself plays a very important role in how you treat others and NLP helps you in this very area.
Programming
“P” stands for Programming. The last but not the least, is programming. The life of each individual has been moulded and affected by their thoughts, be it of the past ways of life, events and emotions. But little do we realize that this affects us in all the areas of our lives whether we are subscribed to it or not. Our past has a major impact on the person we are today.
